Department of Health (Vote 7) - Resolution 9/2004 – Cross-border patients
Noting: Item 5.1.3 of the report of the Auditor-General on performance audit of the management of primary health care and;
That cross-border patients from Mozambique and the Eastern Cape contributed to a significant additional financial burden on the department;
The House resolves:
1. That the Accounting Officer of the Department of Health report to the Public Accounts Committee by 30 November 2004 on the costs borne by the province in respect of the cross-border patients and that the report also be made available to the Financial and Fiscal Commission.
2. That the Accounting Officer of the Department of Health report to the Public Accounts Committee by 30 November 2004 on five critical areas within the Primary Health Care Sector that could be improved and progress made in improving those areas.
3. That the above report also be submitted to the Health Portfolio Committee.
