9. Unauthorised expenditure: R31 721
REPORT OF THE AUDITOR-GENERAL ON THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF VOTE 1 – PREMIER OF THE PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION OF KWAZULU-NATAL FOR 1998-99( PR 30/2000)
In paragraph 3.2 on page 1-2 of the above-mentioned Report the Auditor-General refers to an amount of R 31 721 incurred by a Durban Attorney in relation to accompanying His Majesty the King on a visit to the United States of America. In terms of a Cabinet resolution it was decided that as the expenditure had not been approved on competent authority it was to be recovered. This amount had at the date of writing the audit report, not been recovered.
The Committee having heard and considered evidence and having determined that the expenditure of R31 721 is unauthorised, recommends that the amount be recovered from the Accounting Officer.
